Rebates explained
Mass Save Rebate Help in Chelsea, MA
Does your home qualify, how much could come back, and who does the paperwork? We answer the first two up front and handle the third.
How Does the Mass Save Heat Pump Rebate Work?
Start with the headline number. For 2026, Mass Save pays up to $8,500 toward a whole-home air-source system, calculated per ton of installed capacity. Notice the words up to: it is a cap, and several conditions stand between you and it. First, insulation and air sealing must reach whatever standard your Home Energy Assessment sets. Second, the equipment has to appear on the program's cold-climate eligible list. Third, someone must occupy the place full time all winter. Heating only part of the home earns a smaller amount. And if the new system replaces an oil, propane or gas zone, the old equipment serving it gets pulled, disconnected, or kept with integrated controls that limit it to the coldest spells. Who keeps all of that straight? We do. Before writing a proposal, we compare your building against every condition, help schedule the no-cost assessment if you have not had one, and choose qualifying equipment sized to the actual heat loss. The proposal then shows your expected rebate right beside the price, so you know what you are really paying. Once the install is finished, invoices, model numbers and supporting documents get assembled, the filing goes out, and we follow it until the money arrives.
What Does Rebate Help Cover?
