Heating and cooling in one
Heat Pump Installation in Chelsea, MA
What will it cost, what will Mass Save pay back and how much could be financed at 0%? You get those answers on paper before the install.
What Goes Into a Good Heat Pump Install?
Two things, mostly: a system sized to the building, and a price you understood before you said yes. Start with sizing. Many homes in this part of the city were built for steam or hot water heat, and their boilers were often far bigger than needed. Matching a heat pump to that old boiler usually means paying for capacity you will never use, while some rooms still run cold. So we measure. Windows, wall and attic insulation, ceiling heights, which rooms face the wind off the water. Those measurements produce a heat-loss number per room, revealing how much heating every floor or unit genuinely requires. From there the design can be ducted, ductless or a mix, depending on what the building already has. The equipment is cold-climate rated, built to keep producing heat on the coldest nights of a Massachusetts winter, and the same system cools and dehumidifies in summer. Then comes the money. Your proposal lists the equipment, the installed price, the Mass Save rebate your home should earn and, when the HEAT Loan fits, the amount that could be financed at 0%. Nothing is left vague. If a line on the page does not make sense, ask, and we will explain it until it does.
What Is Included in an Installation?
Whether it is one floor or a whole building, these are the pieces of the job.
Heat-loss measurement
Each room or unit measured so capacity matches what the space actually loses on a cold night.
System layout
Ducted air handlers, ductless heads or both, planned around the building and each household's needs.
Outdoor unit locations
Condensers placed on side yards, porches, brackets or flat roofs, raised above snow and away from neighbors' windows where possible.
Refrigerant line routing
Lines run through closets, chases or covered exterior runs so they stay neat on old facades.
Controls per unit
Separate controls for each apartment or zone, so each household sets its own comfort.
Startup and testing
Charge, airflow and temperatures checked in every zone before we leave.
Written cost breakdown
Price, rebate estimate and any financing amount on one page, signed off before work begins.
